The Crew

The Team

Triangle Racing is one team, made up of the roles every race team needs to get the kart to the grid and around the track.

Driver

Competes in the Purdue Grand Prix and test sessions, conducts post-session debriefs with engineers, and analyzes data and video to identify performance gains. Develops composure under pressure, precise technical communication, and data-driven decision-making.

Race Engineer

Configures chassis setup, gearing, and tire pressures between sessions, evaluates timing and telemetry, and plans changes in collaboration with the driver. Develops applied engineering expertise in vehicle dynamics and data analysis.

Crew Chief

Sets the operational schedule, leads crew briefings, and directs race-day strategy and pit stops. Develops leadership, planning, and project-management capabilities by coordinating personnel, resources, and timing under pressure.

Mechanics

Build and maintain the kart across the season, assembling the drivetrain and performing inspection and repair between sessions. Develop practical mechanical and diagnostic skills.

Public Relations

Manages social media, alumni communications, sponsor outreach, and fundraising campaigns and events. Develops marketing, communication, and relationship-management skills.

Pit Crew

Rehearses and executes pit stops on race day, managing tire changes, refueling, and rapid repairs against the clock. Develops teamwork, precision, and process execution under pressure.

No Experience Needed

Most of our members join with zero racing or mechanical background. Everything from kart setup to race strategy is taught hands-on by current members. You don't have to live in the house to be part of the team either — out-of-house members are always welcome to join.
